We are happy to share some exciting news from Dave Benning!
Dave has been working on a new piece to please all you “London Bus” students…..“Radio City NY” is a fabulous piece in true Dave-style! You’ll love it…it’s even better in person :). He is also doing a repeat of the textured “Vancouver Skyline” so if you missed it the first time, be sure to sign up for this encore! Remember, you can paint it in hues to match your decor with Dave’s expert guidance.
Dave will also be offering Kid’s Art Camps this summer at Tiggy’s!!!
What an incredible opportunity for any child, aged 11+, to take a class with a master artist such as Dave! During the workshops attendees will learn the basics of Portraiture and Landscape painting while developing an understanding of composition and technique, and will complete 2 awesome original paintings on canvas! An interest in art and signs of developing skills is recommended. Be sure to register your budding Van Goghs early as class sizes will be small! Please see website for all additional information and to register or call the studio.
Dave will be painting in the studio on Sunday June 4 from 11 till 3. If you haven’t had a chance to see the master at work, please drop in to the studio any time on the 4th, ask questions, and just generally observe how Dave paints a portrait from start to finish! It’s really quite something to watch!!
‘Hunny Bear” is a fun new 2-day class, just perfect for that special little someone in your life!
Have a bunch of paintings just waiting for that final varnish coat?? Just not sure how to do it?! ‘Finish Up and Varnish’ class may be for you. Check it out on the Classes page.

“Jar of Daisies” is a fun, easy, finished in 1 day class, on a pre-framed canvas, perfect for a Spring gift!
“Asparagus” is painted loosely in soft muted pinks, purples, and greens on a dark ground and would compliment many decors.
We have also added another Colour Theory Workshop, another fab London Bus class with Dave (check out students’ work on our Tiggy Facebook page), AND, the last Beginner class before summer!
The studio will be closed from March 16th until we reopen on Friday, April 21st. Scheduled classes continue during this time. For any questions, comments or concerns, please email Jackie through the website!

Jackie has added the last two classes that she will be teaching before her summer break to the Tiggy’s schedule. Be sure to sign up as this will be it until she returns in September. Don’t despair though, as for the first time in years there will still be painting classes offered at Tiggy’s through the summer! More details to come so stay tuned for our next newsletter.
We’ve added the Burrard Street Bridge to the schedule, a detailed portrait of one of Vancouver’s iconic bridges. Sandpiper is the other new class Jackie has added, starting Thursday May 12. There are also spots available for the Open Class on May 6, and Dave Benning’s new beginner portrait class, starting May 22.
We’ve added three brand-new classes to the Tiggy’s schedule, with two more to come before we close for the summer break June 1! Fabulous “Water!” is Dave Benning’s newest addition to our class lineup. Learn how to create the effect of deep water and the sparkle of sunlight.
Dave will also be teaching a new Beginner Class here at Tiggy’s. The class will have the same basic content and skill set as our regular Beginner’s programme but with a portraiture focus. Learn how to paint a simple portrait step-by-step. This class is geared for non-painters, with no previous painting or portrait painting experience required!
Blossoms in Grey is Jackie’s newest class. Cascading cream blossoms are lovely on a muted neutral background. The first class scheduled is full, but there is another scheduled in May!
Some Tiggy’s Community News:
One of our students works at Peardonville House in Abbotsford to aid women fighting addiction and other problems and their children. She offers them a creative and artistic outlet and always has need of art and craft supplies. If you have any paints, wool/yarn, fabrics, brushes, etc that you might wish to donate, please bring them to Tiggy’s and we will make sure they get to the right place!
Also a reminder that the Zimbabwe Gecko Society’s fundraising Garage Sale is coming up quickly on May 21st. Please know that 100% of the proceeds from all donations go directly to continue the work of ZGS helping widows and orphans in Zimbabwe. Donations of household items, clothing, books and many other items may be dropped off at the White Rock Baptist Church on 140th Street and 16th Avenue on May 20 after 5:00 pm. Thank you in advance for your support!
Thanks and Happy Painting!
