Every Sunday through the summer from June to September, Dave Benning will be doing free demos at the studio. Drop in to watch a master at work!
Dave is also teaching Portrait Workshops Monday nights in June (and possibly longer if there is a lot of interest!) Take advantage of this unique opportunity to develop portrait painting skills step by step with a pro!
Want a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Tiggy’s? Leave a Google review for our studio, come in and show us your review starting in September when we reopen, and we’ll give you $10 to spend at Tiggy’s!
To leave a review simply search for Tiggy’s at crescent on Google, then click on “Write a Review” in the Tiggy’s at crescent box that appears on the right side of the search results.
We’ve added three brand-new classes to the Tiggy’s schedule, with two more to come before we close for the summer break June 1! Fabulous “Water!” is Dave Benning’s newest addition to our class lineup. Learn how to create the effect of deep water and the sparkle of sunlight.
Dave will also be teaching a new Beginner Class here at Tiggy’s. The class will have the same basic content and skill set as our regular Beginner’s programme but with a portraiture focus. Learn how to paint a simple portrait step-by-step. This class is geared for non-painters, with no previous painting or portrait painting experience required!
Blossoms in Grey is Jackie’s newest class. Cascading cream blossoms are lovely on a muted neutral background. The first class scheduled is full, but there is another scheduled in May!
Some Tiggy’s Community News:
One of our students works at Peardonville House in Abbotsford to aid women fighting addiction and other problems and their children. She offers them a creative and artistic outlet and always has need of art and craft supplies. If you have any paints, wool/yarn, fabrics, brushes, etc that you might wish to donate, please bring them to Tiggy’s and we will make sure they get to the right place!
Also a reminder that the Zimbabwe Gecko Society’s fundraising Garage Sale is coming up quickly on May 21st. Please know that 100% of the proceeds from all donations go directly to continue the work of ZGS helping widows and orphans in Zimbabwe. Donations of household items, clothing, books and many other items may be dropped off at the White Rock Baptist Church on 140th Street and 16th Avenue on May 20 after 5:00 pm. Thank you in advance for your support!
It took us a little longer than expected to upgrade our systems but the Tiggy’s site is now back up-and-running! Plus, we have new classes:
Brand new Maggie’s Garden has proven popular and is already almost full; if you’d like to take it after it fills, email us and let us know and we’ll schedule another class!
We’re also offering three Open Classes for three Fridays in a row; this is a perfect opportunity for those working on a pattern packet or project that requires more than one session.
Madrona and Amalfi Coast have just a few spots left and are starting soon – sign up now!
We also have an exciting new class coming up with a new guest teacher, Dave Benning: Vancouver’s premiere rock ‘n’ roll artist. Check out his work on his website, davebenning.com. We’ll be holding a special sneak-preview demo that will showcase his teaching style and will have limited spots, so make sure to check your inbox for updates!
We’re updating our online class registration system! The new system will be very similar to the one you are already experienced with, but will be even easier to use. We will need to shut down the website for a couple days while we make the changes, and unfortunately you won’t be able to sign up for classes during this time. Rest assured any classes you have already signed up for will carry over to the new system, and you can still register right up until we shut down the site.
The website will be unavailable during the Easter Long Weekend, Friday April 3rd to Sunday April 5th. You can still register for classes Thursday April 2nd, and your registration will be saved.
We have now updated the website with the photo for the White, Blue & Apricots class, and you can see it in person at the studio. Also stay tuned as we will be scheduling brand new classes in the spring, with titles including Venice, Amalfi Coast, Curvy Arbutus and Garden Archway.
A great new palette system by Mijello is now available at Tiggy’s! This wet palette is super simple to set up requiring only a few strips of damp paper towel. It allows you to mix right on the wet palette (difficult to do in other wet palette systems) and clean-up is a breeze! Plus, the lid has a gasket and offers a totally air tight seal, meaning your paints will last weeks or even months! Visit our studio in Crescent Beach to learn more.
We would like to mention that all canvases used in our classes must be purchased at Tiggy’s. The canvases we order for our students are of the highest quality and made right here in Canada. They are 100% natural cotton canvas, double gessoed and back stapled to sturdy stretcher bars. This means there are no pin-holes in the canvas and you can display them without framing as the edges are finished nicely. Many of them even come in sophisticated shadow-box frames.
By purchasing your canvas and supplies at Tiggy’s, you support the studio and ensure that we will be able to continue to offer a great variety of quality classes. Mona and I would like to thank you for your support and for keeping us in business for 20 years!
One of our students, Karen Hisey, will be participating in an art show that’s being held in Beecher Place (12160 Beecher Street) in Crescent Beach on Saturday, November 22 from 1 – 8pm. There will be paintings, sculptures, pottery and photographic art. Please plan on attending!
Tiggy’s Art Studio is now closed for our annual winter break. We will reopen on Friday January 9. Jackie will be answering emails while we are closed should you need to contact her at email@example.com. New classes will be added to the website as they are completed. You can register for classes safely online anytime by visiting tiggys.ca/current-workshops. We are unable to process registrations via phone or in person while we are closed.
Have a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!
Tiggy’s will be closing for Christmas October 31 and won’t reopen again until January 9, 2015. If you’d like to purchase supplies make sure you visit us before the end of next week.
We’ve scheduled a bunch of new classes for 2015, so make sure you take a look at our Classes page to see what’s available. Some are already almost full so be sure to sign up for the class you’d like to take before it’s too late! Online registration will be available while we’re closed over Christmas. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to process sign-ups in the store while we are closed, so registering via the website is recommended. Your information is sent over an encrypted SSL connection and complies with PCI standards, so is as safe as if you were to register in our studio.
Have a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year!
Our website is finally back online, and we have a completely new look! Along with our huge selection of brand-new Fall classes, we are now able to offer online registration for classes! Visit our classes page to see our brand new calendar, which gives you a great overview of our class schedule.
You can register by clicking on the photo of the class, or the ‘Register’ button. Scroll down and you’ll see our list of upcoming classes with larger class photos. Once you click to register, you will be taken to the registration page where you can fill out your information, and once you submit that just enter your credit card information and you will be registered!
As you browse our new classes, you may notice Jackie is introducing a new type of class. Called “Fast ‘n’ Fab”, these classes are one-day only, don’t need any prep before the class, and include your surface! They are loaded with techniques and colour theory, and provide the convenience of being able to complete a painting from start to finish in just one day!
We’re currently in the midst of renovating our studio as well, and invite you to join us on September 20th for our Grand Re-Opening, in celebration of 20 years in business!
We’ve just added a brand new class to the schedule: Rose’s Roses. There are also new dates added to the Dandelion and Golden Tree classes, with a few spaces still available in each. One more Open Class has been added on Friday, April 11, and it’s the last one until the fall. If you have any unfinished pieces you’d like to finally make time for, or are working on your own project and would like some extra guidance, the Open Class is for you.
Finally we will be adding another brand-new class before the summer break, Arbutus, starting Saturday April 19th. We’ll add it to the site once Jackie has finished painting it. 🙂
We close early for the summer this year (May 9th!) so these are among the last classes we will be offering until September! Make sure you sign up now if you’d like to do one more painting before the summer.
To celebrate our 20th year in business, we will be renovating the studio over the summer to provide our students more space and a lighter, brighter surrounding to paint in! We’ll be hosting a 20 Year Anniversary Open House in September, where you can drop in to see the new studio!
We will also be renovating the website at the same time in order to enable class sign-ups online! The website will not be available while we’re updating but should be back online by mid June/early July. We will schedule our fall classes once the website is back up and running.
A lot is happening at Tiggy’s this year, so be sure to keep checking the website or sign-up for our Newsletter to get all the latest updates!
We’ve just added five brand-new classes to the fall schedule: Gulf Island Cabin, Snowman, Sunflower #3, a brand-new Drawing Class, and the Evergreen Wreath-Making class. Visit the Classes page to see photos of the new classes and dates they are offered. The studio will be re-opening September 14, so if you want to sign up for a class you can call and leave a message (604-541-8322) or email Jackie (firstname.lastname@example.org). Be sure to include your name, phone number, and the class (with dates) you are interested in.
Even though the studio is closed, the summer store will still be open until Monday, September 9! If you haven’t had a chance to come down there are still a number of unique vintage gifts and art from Jackie and other artists for sale. If you have been down already, the store is constantly changing with new items arriving daily, and once they’re gone, they’re gone!
