Jackie’s been painting up a storm this summer and is ready to offer 5 brand-new classes for the fall season!
Tulips in Blue and Freesias are still-life flowers that would fit with any decor. Tour d’Eiffel is a palette knife featuring an iconic Parisian view. Freighter at Spanish Banks features an iconic Vancouver view, and Sun Mask is a colourful take on traditional Haida art. We are also offering a new portrait class from our special guest teacher Dave Benning, featuring the much-loved John Lennon.
There’s lots to whet your palatte but as usual seats are limited so be sure to visit the website to register soon! Jackie will be placing the paintings in the window at the studio in Crescent Beach if you’d like to come down and see them in real life while we are still closed.
Have a great rest of the summer and Happy Painting!
We’re excited to announce that Dave Benning, Vancouver’s premiere rock ‘n’ roll artist will be teaching a class at Tiggy’s before the summer!
Join us Sunday, May 24 from 11am-1:30pm for a special sneak-preview demo session with Dave. Watch as he creates magic on several canvases and experience his contagious energy! This is a unique opportunity to get a feel for Dave’s teaching and artistic style before committing to a full class. Registration is limited and includes lunch (as well as complimentary tea & coffee). Click here to sign up now!
Starting Sunday, May 31 from 10am-3pm, Dave’s “Rock Star” Portrait Class will be a 3-week, hands-on, project-based painting class in true Tiggy’s style. Complete an iconic image (we will be choosing the image at the demo session) and learn Dave’s techniques for creating his lifelike hyper-realistic portraits. We recommend students to have some painting experience before taking this class (taking a previous class at Tiggy’s will be helpful) but it is not a requirement. Click here to secure your spot early!
It took us a little longer than expected to upgrade our systems but the Tiggy’s site is now back up-and-running! Plus, we have new classes:
Brand new Maggie’s Garden has proven popular and is already almost full; if you’d like to take it after it fills, email us and let us know and we’ll schedule another class!
We’re also offering three Open Classes for three Fridays in a row; this is a perfect opportunity for those working on a pattern packet or project that requires more than one session.
Madrona and Amalfi Coast have just a few spots left and are starting soon – sign up now!
We also have an exciting new class coming up with a new guest teacher, Dave Benning: Vancouver’s premiere rock ‘n’ roll artist. Check out his work on his website, davebenning.com. We’ll be holding a special sneak-preview demo that will showcase his teaching style and will have limited spots, so make sure to check your inbox for updates!
Spring is here, and we have some brand new classes starting up in the next couple months. First up is Madrona, a stylized arbutus offered on Thursdays starting April 16th. There’s also Amalfi Coast, a colourful painterly piece on Thursday’s starting May 14. There’s a new Beginner’s Saturdays in May, the last one before our summer break!
Jackie’s been painting up a storm and we will be adding another new class in about a week, Maggie’s Garden, which will be offered Saturdays in May. Check back soon!
We’ve added a brand new class to the schedule: Venice! The first class we scheduled was almost full before we even added it to the website, so we’ve added a second class right away.
We’re running one of the classes three consecutive days in a row; it means you’ll be able to leave your supplies and canvas in our secure studio overnight each day, and go home with a finished piece in three days instead of three weeks!
We have now updated the website with the photo for the White, Blue & Apricots class, and you can see it in person at the studio. Also stay tuned as we will be scheduling brand new classes in the spring, with titles including Venice, Amalfi Coast, Curvy Arbutus and Garden Archway.
A great new palette system by Mijello is now available at Tiggy’s! This wet palette is super simple to set up requiring only a few strips of damp paper towel. It allows you to mix right on the wet palette (difficult to do in other wet palette systems) and clean-up is a breeze! Plus, the lid has a gasket and offers a totally air tight seal, meaning your paints will last weeks or even months! Visit our studio in Crescent Beach to learn more.
We would like to mention that all canvases used in our classes must be purchased at Tiggy’s. The canvases we order for our students are of the highest quality and made right here in Canada. They are 100% natural cotton canvas, double gessoed and back stapled to sturdy stretcher bars. This means there are no pin-holes in the canvas and you can display them without framing as the edges are finished nicely. Many of them even come in sophisticated shadow-box frames.
By purchasing your canvas and supplies at Tiggy’s, you support the studio and ensure that we will be able to continue to offer a great variety of quality classes. Mona and I would like to thank you for your support and for keeping us in business for 20 years!
Happy new year from everyone at Tiggy’s! We hope you had a restful Christmas break and a great start to 2015. We have been open just over a week, and are already adding new classes to our Spring schedule!
White, Blue & Apricot is a brand-new class starting in March (photo to come). We’re also bringing back English Village due to popular demand as well as Shari’s Beach (perfect for West-Coast homes). There’s also a new Beginner’s date in case you or someone you know haven’t painted at Tiggy’s before and would like to start!
Be sure to sign-up any time online if you’re interested in any of these classes, or feel free to call the shop or stop by during our business hours.
We should also mention there are only a couple spots left in the popular New York New York palette-knife and Granville Island classes starting mid-February, so make sure you don’t miss out!
We’ll be adding more brand-new classes in the coming weeks as Jackie paints them, so be sure to check back.
We’ve scheduled a bunch of new classes for January and February 2015! On the list are a number of popular classes we’ve recently run including Gulf Island Cabin, Arbutus, Whistler Village, Tuscan Steps, Clambake, and Granville Island.
There are also two classes from a number of years ago, brought back by popular demand: the striking Sunflower, and locally-inspired West Coast Beach. West Coast Beach is unique in that Jackie encourages you to bring photos of your children (or grandchildren, or nieces and nephews, etc!) as everyone will be customizing their own painting with images of their kids! (The one shown is of Jackie’s two children).
We’ll be closing for Christmas on October 31st, but there are still classes available if you’d like to get some painting done in our bright studio space while the days get shorter, or perhaps would like to make a thoughtful Christmas gift. Shari’s Beach (starting Wednesday October 15) has only a couple spots available, and there’s one spot left in the New York, New York palette-knife class running the weekend of October 25th and 26th. Remember, you can put your name on our waiting list if a class you’d like to take is full, and we’ll let you know when we schedule a new date (usually before it goes online!) just email jackie at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the studio (604-541-8322).
Fast ‘n’ Fab classes are brand new to Tiggy’s for the fall schedule, so we’d like to offer you a special discount on an already great price!
Our new Fast ‘n’ Fab classes offer you the opportunity to create a professional work of art in a one-day, five-hour class! Even though these classes are completed start to finish in just one day, they are not short on skills, techniques or theory. You will still receive a full set of class notes, photograph of the finished piece, and personalized instruction from Jackie (plus the surface you will be painting on is included!)
The techniques and skills you will learn and practice are the same as in much larger paintings, but the smaller size enables you to finish in a 5-hour class (and more easily find a spot to display them!)
To celebrate these brand new classes and our 20th year in business, we’d like to offer you 20% off our regular Fast ‘n’ Fab class fees! Just enter promo code FAB20 into the Promo Code box at the bottom of your registration form when signing up for any of the new Fast ‘n’ Fab classes, and you’ll instantly get 20% off! Plus your surface is still included!
Update: We are now offering everyone 20% off our Fast ‘n’ Fab Classes without having to enter a Promo Code. The Class Fee already is reduced by 20%, plus your surface is still included for free!
